Kids music serves a few purposes. First of all it must be entertaining and enjoyable for kids to listen to. Children tend to have attention spans of less than a minute, so if the kids music isn't very attractive to the children, they will get bored of it quickly.
The songs should be simple and repetitive so that the children can learn the songs quickly and with ease. When they do, they can sing along with the music and it becomes an interactive activity. When children are engaged in something, such as a sing-along, they will be able to do it for a much longer span of time before they tire of it.
Kids music is also a great teaching tool. Elementary school teachers have been using music along with their traditional style of teaching. Music has the ability to get kids to get involved in the subject matter.
The kids hear the songs, start having fun, and no longer realize that they are being taught. When a song covers a particular subject and the kids memorize the song, the kids end up learning from it, whether they intended to or not. This allows for kids music to be a very valuable teaching tool.
Parents should also look into adding to their children's development with educational songs. Educational subjects do not just have to cover academia, but can also touch on other areas such as values, morals, and ethics. Music is a good way to introduce children to these important topics.
Children are constantly encountering new things that can be hard for them to comprehend. These do not always have to be tangible items, but they can also have a hard time dealing with new feeling and emotions. For example, the first time that a child has a possession stolen from him, he will not understand why someone took something that is not theirs.
The critical part comes in teaching the child that what happened was wrong, and that they should not go and take other people's belonging because of what has happened. They can be prepared for situations like this if they are exposed to it before it happens. A parent or teacher can explain to the child beforehand that stealing is wrong, and that way when the child has something stolen, he does not immediately go and steal something else.
Kids music is a great way to expose children to subjects like these in a fun and enjoyable way. It allows for subject matter that is critical for a healthy social and emotional development, to be presented in a way in which kids can understand.
Helen Nadel is a life coach, a singing teacher and a recording artist with EMI France, Helen Nadel and her staff have proudly allowed for children to become so good at their craft that the kids who sing, dance and act, or two out of the three, often perform as series regular actors on major shows on television. The children enjoy the ability to sing previously rehearsed material, and they also gain improvisation skills in actually both singing and acting.
